Cholesterol Tea

Drinking Tea

Green tea consumption has repeatedly been associated with improved vitality and reduced incidence
of a gamut of diseases, from diabetes to osteoporosis to heart diseases and cognitive decline. Rich in
components called polyphenols, green tea acts on a number of biochemical processes that improve
outright function and health. One vital impact of polyphenols are the ability to improve circulation
throughout the body, says the Life Extension Foundation.

Green tea's polyphenols are capable of increasing blood flow to the extremities by increasing the
diameter and elasticity of the blood vessels. Regular consumption of several cups of green tea daily
increases the level of the potent vasodialator nitric oxide, which reduces the resistance of blood flow,
according to clinical nutrition specialist Dr. Jonny Bowden. Take advantage of these effects by regularly
brewing and consuming strong green tea throughout the day. Bowden suggests that you shoot for at
minimum three cups of green tea daily. One of the easiest ways to accomplish the task it to brew a strong
8 ounce cup made with three or four bags of green tea in the morning, then dilute the tea with another
three cups of water. Cool and consume throughout the day. Bowden also advocates the use of a tea
press with a capacity of several cups, and requiring yourself to finish the contents by the end of the day.

For an added boost of lower extremity blood flow, combine frequent consumption of green tea with fish
oil and frequent, light aerobic exercise that can help to decrease blood flow resistance by increasing nitric
oxide and improving elasticity of the circulatory system, according to Bowden.
